🍕Pie January🍕

Wordloaf is on holiday hiatus right now, but that doesn’t mean I’m not cooking up  things for the future. One of them is our annual pizza fest, which I shifted from November to January. I did that mostly to open up more space for pre-holiday posts & recipes, but also because it meant I could give the month a better name than “Pizzember” (ugh).

Say hello to Pie January, a month of pizza and topped-flatbread programming, just in time to clear your palates after a month and a half-long binge of cookies, cakes, and (the other kind of) pies. This year’s will be focused mainly (though not exclusively) on pan pizzas, and it will include a bunch of new recipes, several of mine and at least one guest post that I am very excited about.

In the meantime, I wanted to alert you all to a hunger-relief opportunity you might like to partake in, Pizza Across America, which will be on 2/9 of next year:

Be part of America’s largest pizza delivery by joining the World Pizza Champions on National Pizza Day (Feb 9). All you have to do is donate and deliver at least 10 pizzas to your local shelter, soup kitchen, or any hunger action center. Don’t know where to donate your pizza? We’ll help you set something up. The more pizzerias participate, the bigger the story for national press!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

STEP 1: Find a local soup kitchen or shelter who’d love to get some pizza-love from you!
STEP 2: Register your pizzeria via the form below and let us know where you’ll be donating/delivering your pizzas. Have multiple locations? Register each one!
STEP 3: We’ll send you a digital media kit in January to help you spread the word to local press.
STEP 4: One week before Pizza Across America, we’ll send you a reminder with all your delivery details.

While this drive is mainly being done by pizza shops, anyone who can make and deliver 10 or more pies can participate, and I plan to do so myself. (I’m trying to figure out what to do about getting boxes to use, and will share intel here when I have it.)
