What a fascinating process for researching the interplay between industrial bread and home consumers! Thanks!

Looks interesting another rabbit hole to check. Grew up with great women bakers and cooks. Both grandmother's baked bread weekly. And my great grandmother as well. Had a commercial Sunbeam bakery near our home so my mom would go weekly to buy fresh baked loaves. The smell, but bought bread is nothing like what it used to be...so trying to revive my bread baking skills....

I grew up enchanted by factory bread, what a perfumery! Good luck with your baking. Sounds like you've got great ancestors to guide you!

Love this dispatch, as a fellow bread researcher rabbit hole diver. Bibliographies truly make me giddy. So many places to go - how do you prioritize your time?? Can’t wait to read your new book, Amy :)

Oh I prioritize poorly! I need deadlines to steer my ship -- otherwise the compass of curiosity is my only guide. Looking forward to your work too!

This was the best Valentines gift I could have asked for! Every dispatch both via Wordloaf and your own channel has been a delightful tickle for the brain and makes me want roughly 100000 more hours in the day to dive down rabbit holes. Separately, thought you might appreciate to know that I have my first date in my adult life because of a shared appreciation of the Troy Farmers Market! Bread and food and the love it inspires bringing people together!
