At long last, my Bread Baker’s Pocket Companion has arrived. Five giant boxes showed up on my doorstep late last week, and they look great! I even began using it to edit recipes yesterday, which was the reason I wanted to make them in the first place.
I’m still sorting out an efficient way to ship all 600+ that have sold already, so I remain in “preorder” mode for now, but my goal is to begin shipping the first wave of orders next weekend and get all of them out the door within the next two weeks. (You’ll get an email notification once yours is en route.) Thanks for your patience with this, I think you’ll consider it worth the wait.
I’ll share a post with more details of what the booklet contains soon, but in the meantime, here’s the table of contents:
Many of the topics the booklet covers will be familiar to regulars around here, though all of the content has been refined and updated for it. (I’m not sure yet whether I’ll ever offer an electronic version of it, but I do plan to create a set of reference posts here containing all the same information.)
Can’t wait to get these into your hands and kitchens!
Later this week, I’ve got a bunch of things to share, namely recipes. I’ve got a “final” version of my brioche formula, along with a Wordloaf Extra for paid subs that uses the dough for a seasonally-appropriate pastry (🎃). And I have two more Wordloaf Extras to share, including the millet porridge sourdough depicted above, and a recipe for butter chickpeas, another in my ongoing project to vegetarianize my favorite personal recipes. (There’s also naan recipe in the works to go with it, but that one isn’t quite ready for prime time yet.)
Finally, I found time yesterday to plant winter wheat and rye on my roof for next year! Each box is a tiny 3 square feet, which won’t amount to enough for even a single loaf of bread, but it will be fun to be growing them all the same. I’ll share updates as the sprouts sprout.
See you all on Wednesday!

Happy book birthday!!!
would definitely be interested in an electronic version of the book. (at a shipping price of $10 is just a bit too much...)
