Monday Mix 5/22/23

Happy Mondays, everyone. I’m in the Twin Cities for one more day before getting back to work in the flour mines at home tomorrow. I’m here visiting friends and family, but as always I have managed to cram in a pile of bread-related tourism, including visits to:

• Sun Street Breads — My friend Solveig’s excellent bakery, and one of the OG artisan bread makers in the Twin Cities.
• Young Joni — My first taste of Anne Kim’s pizzas and food, which were 100% worth the hype.
• Laune Bread — Wonderful whole-grain, naturally-leavened breads and pastries using local ingredients whereever possible.
• Asa’s Bakery — Excellent bagels and bialys.
• Patisserie 46 — Superlative French-style pastries.
• Boludo — Surprisingly good Argentine pizzas and amazing empanadas.
• The Mill City Museum — A wonderful introduction to the history of flour milling in Minnesota, housed in one of the original mills.

I’ve gotten some recommendations from others for places to hit yet, and might squeeze one or two in today before I hit the airport.
