What a stunning quilt! Thanks for sharing this photo. I read about the exhibit and I wish I could attend. Quilting and needlework are my passion; when I'm not baking, I'm quilting.

Baked a loaf of Seeded Multigrain Sourdough Bread. It is a mashup of your Loaf Classic sourdough, the No-Knead 2.0 sourdough recipe you developed for ATK, and the Seeded Multigrain sourdough recipe from the Vanilla and Bean blog (uses a soaked grain/seed method similar to your porridge bread). It came out great!

That is a beautiful quilt! I am not doing much of anything today. I am in transit on an Amtrak train. The wifi isn’t great, so it’s something of a forced resting period. I do have my little starter in my lunch bag, though.

Love the quilt! I had hoped to take my kids to daycare today so I could get some things done around the house but we got stuck in the driveway so I gave up and called it a snow day for everyone. I ended up making this ciabatta recipe from Brian Lagerstrom (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA95tUK2RZU). I really really liked how they turned out, and it was a fun way to spend some time throughout the day. Definitely gave me early 2020 pandemic vibes, antsy toddlers and everything.

MLK ended up as even more of a bread day than planned, but not in a good way! I had 2 loaves of Peter Reinhart’s multigrain Struan proofing, when our 3-y-o dog raided my bread proofer, disassembled it, and ate all 1300+ grams of proofing dough. FERMENTING DOUGH IS TOXIC TO DOGS, as I learned during our emergency trip to the vet. The active yeast, in the anaerobic environment of the GI tract, produce abundant alcohol, which can result in alcohol toxicity and death. Fortunately I discovered it right away and the vet was able to induce enough vomiting to bring most, if not all, of it up along with his earlier breakfast. A happy ending. But just because your dog has never shown any interest in bread dough or your proofer, don’t let your guard down!

I attended an MLK Day Walk organized by a local organization. It was a great opportunity to learn about my community's past and present through the lens of civil rights and social justice. One cool thing I discovered was that MLK delivered the sermon at a church just down the street from me (us) in January 1960!
