Michael - I think seriously about everything I promote here, and I take your point. Rebecca Marx—and, by inference, many if not all of the other tasters for this story—are Jewish, so I'm not sure why their opinions on matzoh aren't equally valid. And my take is that since observant Jews have no choice but to eat matzoh during Passover, even those who do not care for it might want to know which brands are better than others, which is a little different than someone who hates cilantro "reviewing" the herb. That said, it sure seemed like the tasters actually *liked* some of the brands they tried, so I'm not sure it is true to say that any of them "reviled" matzoh generally.
Hi, Andrew! I saw a choreg recipe at zestysouthindiankitchen.com that is made with sourdough starter and tangzhong, flavored with mahleb and vanilla. Have you ever put vanilla in it? I’d think it would overpower the wonder mahleb. What say you? Happy Easter!
Kate - I think so! There are choreg recipes that use vanilla *instead* of mahleb, but unless you are very conservative with it, it is definitely going to swamp its flavor. Happy Easter back!

Always learn so much! Happy Easter
